One thing we have learned about ourselves through the process of buying our new family-mobile is that neither Marta nor I are impulsive buyers. We spent hours on edmunds.com, carmax.com, and all the honda dealers’ sites in southern california, plus all the advice we could get from anyone who would give it.

Today was finally the day though. We were pushing it with showing up at the dealer at 8pm, but we knew what we wanted and we stuck to our price and we got what we wanted: Honda CR-V in Urban Titanium.

Now for some road trips!

There must be some force of nature that pushes me towards the field of Architecture. My mom always told me I would make a great architect with my love for creativity combined with my interest in math and physics. Then, while I was at Cal Poly, SLO, I lived with three roommates that were all architect majors. Then after college, my first full-time job was as an in-house graphic designer for an architecture firm in Irvine: TCA (is that poor etiquette to feature the competition like that?)
Anyways, it came naturally to work on the identity and site design for c|a ARCHITECTS. It was with pleasure that we were able to bring this company’s identity up to date and design a site for them that complimented what they are all about while featuring some of their great work in the healthcare architecture field.

I remember hearing that the Westboro Baptist Church was going to come through Long Beach, but never got wind of the big day. Thanks Alayna for reminding me of the amazing counter-protest put on by the people of Twitter. Check out some of the signs at laughing squid.

Our showerless numbered days…

Luckily we have some very gracious friends that have allowed us to borrow their showers while ours gets a facelift. The tile guys were here all day working on the bathroom, while I stayed holed up with my germs in the back bedroom. I probably got a good 10 naps in today while I was hoping to wake up and see sparkling new tile in the shower. But no, we are still in the prepping stage I guess. We have an estimated “done date” of next Wednesday, December 2nd…I hope he remembers he is doing the floors too cause we are sure cutting it close with Liam due in just about a month!

Edward Scissorhands Pumpkin

It took us until the day before Halloween to make time for carving our pumpkin. And even then, we squeezed in a date at Cafe Piccolo and a movie we have been waiting 2 weeks to see, Where the Wild Things Are, at the Art Theatre before Marta went to bed and I took the time to gut our pumpkin and put it under the knife. I wish I could say the carving experience was more enjoyable, but in comparison to the dinner and movie with my wonderful wife, it ended up being more of a chore. I was looking for a movie to watch while I did the carving and found my inspiration in Johnny Depp’s character from Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands. I am happy with the results, even though one of our “much to old to be trick-o-treating” trick-o-treaters tonight asked me who it was, and I told him, he said, “oh yea? i guess it sort of looks like him”

JLOOP Halloween

Trick-or-treat.

We had a JLOOP party. Pizza, candy, pumpkins, piñata, candy, costumes, dry ice, noodles, candy corn, monsters, candy, and more candy…the kids loved it.

Do We Have Enough

This was a really fun and exciting project to work on with the JLOOP team. It is the brainchild of the incredible “Jay Dysart of The Internets” and it was a lot of fun to work on and will be exciting to watch it grow and develop! And yes, there will be more characters coming soon. We are starting with incorporating the JLOOP team and maybe a celebrity here and there. We’ve got one JLOOPer currently in the line-up…can you guess which one?

My good friend Mark is a contractor and I’ve been helping him with some website updates here and there. One day we were talking and we decided it was time for a complete overhaul on his site. Something clean and simple, while being professional and current. The content of the site is still under development, but we are both happy with the design elements. Now Mark just needs to get a Facebook! ha!
