Pumpkin Patch 2009

Still having fun with the new camera. Tried some night time shots and came out with some fun photos. I especially like the couple of photos of the kids on the carny version of the teacups…

Home Improvement Update 2.5

The revisions to our lovely home have continued. It definitely was a lovely house to begin with, but it was a tad on the grandma side. No offense to the previous owner, but i don’t mean the grandma-style that marta loves so dearly. i’m talking christmas-plaid, country-mom, ducks-and-those-dolls-with-straw-hair grandma style!!

Anyways, I have many more photos to post including the mantle and cabinet my friend Mark just built for us, but for now I’m posting a photo of our new/old 1920′s chandelier courtesy of Maile Eaton and the piano that was just passed down to Marta from her Aunt Lisa…Thank you to both parties!

That last photo kept reminding me of that old Spike Jones commercial for Ikea. If you haven’t seen it…change that now:

Downtown Long Beach Business

This site was a whirlwind of a project! And it might be proof that the faster a project moves from discovery and design through production and launch, the better. It was an awesome opportunity and an honor to work on a site representing the very area we work in. Our office is in the East Village, one of the 5 areas highlighted on this site (also the best of the 5 in my opinion). Budget was tight so Greg and I got to go out and shoot the photography ourselves and it worked out pretty great if I do say so myself. Check it out for yourself and hopefully you will be inspired to open up your business downtown, maybe even next to JLOOP!

Jury Duty

I have been summoned for jury duty.

Twice.

In the same week!

I got my first summons from the State back in April, but I postponed it til August because of all the stuff going on with buying a house, moving, having my car stolen. So I knew I would have to report to jury duty in Long Beach on August 3rd and there was no more postponing the inevitable.

However, now I have just received a summons for Federal Court in downtown LA on August 11th. Seriously? What are the chances that I would be summoned for jury duty back to back by different courts? Doesn’t our government talk to each other or is that just asking too much?

#SQUARESPACE iPhone FTW!

I can’t believe I forgot to post this, but I won a new iPhone 3GS the other day! With all the other excitement of a new house, a pregnant wife, the doctor visits, a stolen car, dealing with insurance agents, real estate agents, mortgage brokers, lenders, contractors, painters, etc. it got lost in the mix of things. Also, it took me about a day to get over the shock of actually winning.

iphone-win

So here’s the deal, right now Squarespace is putting on a contest via twitter where they randomly choose one tweet every day for 30 days (there are 19 days left) that includes “#squarespace.” I had started whoring myself out the second or third day of the contest with an average of 3 tweets a day dedicated to the magic word. I was watching the number of followers/participants in the contest grow exponentially every day that the contest continued and figured I was out of luck after the first few days. However, on day 9 I twittered…

“new iPhone or new puppy for my wife for our anniversary? I’ll leave it to fate and let #SQUARESPACE decide.”

and “i think i need to have more followers to be a #Squarespace winner. i don’t bring enough publicity to the table.”
So, I’m not sure which one did the actual trick but I got a direct message from @squarespace asking me for my info and they said the gift card and tshirt were on their way! I have decided that number 9 is my new lucky number and it also happens to be one of my favorite restaurants in Long Beach.
