Downtown Long Beach Business

This site was a whirlwind of a project! And it might be proof that the faster a project moves from discovery and design through production and launch, the better. It was an awesome opportunity and an honor to work on a site representing the very area we work in. Our office is in the East Village, one of the 5 areas highlighted on this site (also the best of the 5 in my opinion). Budget was tight so Greg and I got to go out and shoot the photography ourselves and it worked out pretty great if I do say so myself. Check it out for yourself and hopefully you will be inspired to open up your business downtown, maybe even next to JLOOP!

Jury Duty

I have been summoned for jury duty.

Twice.

In the same week!

I got my first summons from the State back in April, but I postponed it til August because of all the stuff going on with buying a house, moving, having my car stolen. So I knew I would have to report to jury duty in Long Beach on August 3rd and there was no more postponing the inevitable.

However, now I have just received a summons for Federal Court in downtown LA on August 11th. Seriously? What are the chances that I would be summoned for jury duty back to back by different courts? Doesn’t our government talk to each other or is that just asking too much?

Bel Air Siena

Its seems like I’m always working on something for the Teles Properties site at JLOOP, but the Bel Air Siena listing needed its very own unique site. It is always interesting designing for a project that I could never even comprehend affording!

LA Tar Pits Inspiration

Yesterday we had planned to meet my wife’s parents and family friends in LA for lunch at Canter’s. If you are ever in the area of Fairfax and Melrose, be sure you eat here. Best pastrami sandwich I have ever eaten. But what we had planned on just being lunch turned into a 9 hour day in LA. We checked out the art walk and met a local furniture/accessory designer named Tanya AguiƱiga. Maybe it has something to do with my fascination with felt, but I think her stuff is amazing. Check our her work on her site.

From there we wandered over to the LACMA and the LA Tar Pits. I was getting some prehistoric inspiration when we were walking through the museum so I snapped some shots to capture the images.

The first two are from an outdoor installation that was there. It felt like it was Hindu inspired, but I could have my cultures all mixed up. It was cool to see all the recycled and reused materials that were used though…

The rest are from inside the museum, mainly of fossils…
